| Metrosideros Fiji |

All members of the Metrosideros family that Redlands
Homelovers® have introduced to the market have the ability to withstand wind even in
exposed positions near the shore. They are great windbreak or specimen plants in gardens
or large patio pots.
Fiji is no exception but it is also very different to Metrosideros Springfire and Metrosideros Tahiti two other Redlands Homelovers® releases. Fiji has narrow leaves which are up to 5cm long. Young growth is a bright copper colour, a dazzling show. The bush is compact holding its foliage to ground level. |

Metrosideros Fiji has
many uses in todays gardens where time is so precious and everyone wants good effect
with the least amount of effort and time.
As a hedge or a low shrub where clipping or shearing is carried out regularly the young copper-toned new growth is a great feature. As hedges and wind breaks it is stunning. As a specimen planting or in large patio pots the foliage colour gives a good break in the green of garden plants. Flowering in Spring and Summer is intermittent but a real bonus. |

Metrosideros are native to the Islands of the Pacific. Fiji is a selected form of Metrosideros collina var. vitiensis. Known as Metrosideros Fiji this plant was collected by Oz Blumhardt in Fiji on the island of Tavenui and in the centre of the big Island Viti Levu. In cultivation it has not been seen in flower. Redlands is introducing it in large numbers to Australia. |

Like other Metrosideros Redlands Homelovers® have introduced, Fiji needs very little care once established. Mulch well and fertilise in Spring and Summer. Constant shearing or clipping every 4 to 6 weeks will give a full compact plant with many copper tones on the new growth which develops. We have not seen any significant pest or disease problems on Metrosideros Fiji during our usual development trials. |
