About Us - History --- Mission Statement --- Industry Accreditation

Industry Accreditation

As we live each day we take for granted many things which seem to us to be naturally due to us. This applies no less in business than in our private lives.

In business today, one needs to give more than expected in the product we sell. Consumers are attuned to this concept with all the media advertising and in presentation in our major shopping centres.

There is a real need however for us on the production end of our industry to make sure that you know of the many "free" extras which we supply to you, our customer, Mr & Mrs Home Owner. We at Redlands give many hidden benefits and qualities to our customers in the plants we supply. Let us start with the basics.

We take pride in keeping our nursery growing areas clean, weed-free and free draining. Four to five centimetres of gravel under growing beds means that not only can we control weeds and drainage for good roots we are also able to contain roots within pots and keep the pots and plants clean and free of splashing from pot standing surfaces which are so often not clean or free draining in nurseries. This helps control disease and promote clean and healthy root systems.

One of the criteria for Nursery Industry Accreditation is a free draining base such as gravel on which to stand growing plants. It gives so many advantages it soon pays for itself in healthier and happier plants and healthier and happier work teams as they go through tending the crops.

This is but one step toward Nursery Industry Accreditation but a vital one and one without which it is impossible to proceed to other steps. Clean and healthy plants for you to use in your home and in your garden come from attention to these details.

We are proud to be an Accredited Nursery under the voluntary National Accreditation Scheme for Nurseries. It is good business for us and assures you of maximum care being taken by us in producing for you quality high health plants for your home and garden.

Within the Nursery Industry there are many and varied methods of growing and producing plants.

To control and regulate quality and service within the industry the Nursery Accreditation Scheme was instigated in 1993.

Nurseries displaying this logo have obtained high standards and have demonstrated their ability to consistently control their processes of production to an external and impartial auditor. This scheme promotes:

  • Industry quality assurance that is recognised by the Australian Horticultural Corporation and a number of public sector consumers as a part of the quality assurance process.
  • Caring for the environment and practising safe production techniques.
  • Improving consumer confidence by improving quality of products and services on a consistent national basis.
  • Setting standards of growing so that you, as an end buyer of plants can be assured of success in gardening.
